Day 7 was a sunny and glorious end to an eventful ALC 8. The 220+ positive roadies and riders came streaming into Los Angeles and to a throng of cheering supporters. The route seemed to have more PosPed jerseys this year due to the PosPed Supporter jersey, which many wore on the final day. Our good friend and fellow PosPed Paul Serchia was there to greet us– it was great to see him. 20 PosPeds brought in the Dedication banners along with the riderless bicycle in a moving ceremony. All in all– with a few glitches and a missed Day 6 it was a very succesful ALC 8.

On Sunday May 31, 2,150 riders and 500 roadies left San Francisco on a foggy cool morning, after raising $10.5 million for the HIV/AIDS services of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the LA Gay & Lesbian Center, a per capita amount higher than last year, though with the economy there were fewer riders (2,500 last year and $11.6 million was raised), but still we raised an impressive amount that will go far, especially with the expected cuts in the state budget for HIV/AIDS assistance.

The ALC Calendar is now listing upcoming training rides, including Positive Pedalers rides. Be sure to check the ALC site periodically and find out which training ride would be best for you. Also check there and on our Calendar page in the link on your left for a listing of upcoming Positive Pedalers training rides in your area.

If you are in an area not listed on our Calendar and would like your rides listed, please have one of the ride leaders send an email to calendar@pospeds.org. Click on Calendar in the menu on your left to access the Positive Pedalers Calendar.

Positive Pedalers has been selected as one of the honored recipients of the 16th Annual Spirit of Hope Awards, to be presented by Being Alive/People with HIV/AIDS.

Action Coalition on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, Calif. The evening includes a cocktail reception, auction, entertainment, awards ceremony and post-show dessert buffet.
